Ein Langzeitversuch mit Copalchi-Fluidextrakt, einem pflanzlichen Antidiabeticum

Abstract: 16 diabetic patients, having had diabetes for several years, received copalchi fluid extract (standardized extract of copalchi bark) in addition to their previous therapy consisting of diet control and glibenclamide. Determination of the levels of the postprandial blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1) was employed to assess the therapeutic success.A total of 9 patients showed, as based on the glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1), good or very good treatrnent results, i. e. the glibenclamide dose could be lowered due to the concomitant administration of copalchi fluid extract. In the case of 4 patients, the glibenclamide therapy could be discontinued within 10 months. For a total of 7 patients, successful treatment results could not be shown.
