HOT (Hämatogene Oxidationstherapie) bei Hypercholesterinämie

Journal/Book: Ärztezeitschrift für Naturheilverfahren. 1992; 33/8: 617-627.

Abstract: It has been demonstrated by numerous studies that the coronary heart disease and the atherosclerosis are determined by risk factors as high serum cholesterol, nicotine abuse and hypertension. Although the genesis of the atherosclerosis is influenced by various factors the serum cholesterol plays a key role in the prevention of the arteriosclerosis. Increase of the aggressive LDL and the VLDL lipoprotein fraction and above all of the total cholesterol with simultaneously decreased HDL values signify a drastic increase of the coronary risk and of the arteriosclerosis in all classes with respect to age. Under the HOT (haematogenous oxidation therapy) a significant decrease resp. normalization of the values for total cholesterol and triglycerides in the serum can be noticed. However, after about 3 months without HOT treatment they again reach the initial values. The reduction of the total cholesterol occurs at the expense of the atherogenic LDL cholesterol maintaining the HDL cholesterol. The HOT does not change the level of the Lp (a), a measure for the genetic hyperlipidaemia risk.
