Verbesserung der Abwehrlage durch Akupunktur

Abstract: Being a therapy of regulation, acupuncture is a holistic therapy. When carried out correctly, it can re-establish the regulation of the body's main functions to a large degree and, in an ideal case, even achieve harmony or balance. This also applies to the broad, interrelated field of the immune responses. In contrast to acupuncture, conventional medicine attempts to suppress the pathological immune response of many acute and chronic infections. The underlyiong cause of these symptoms, the basic disease is not cured by this method. The immune response, however, is severly damaged by the long-term administration of antibiotics and/ or antirheumathic agents especially cortison and its derivatives. A side effect of a purely symptomatic therapy fequently is damage of the ground substance (Pischinger). This ground substance plays a very important part in the immune response. It is also important that the main hindrances to therapy (focal diseases, disturbed intestinal flora, heavy metal toxicosis etc.) be treated before acupuncture theray is commenced. Laser therapy is very important in paediatrics, where it can be used instead of needles. The combination of body and ear acupuncture points has proven to be very effective.
