Abstract: Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum L.) is originally a medicinal plant from North Amerika, that has already been used by the Indians to cure feverish diseases. From 1820 till 1945 Herba Eupatorii perfoliatum was an officinal drug in the USA. Nowadays, E. perfoliati is used in homoeopathy and in phytotherapy. Botanical aspects of the plant and its constituents arc described. Pharmacological and toxicological data arc discussed. The folk medicinal homoeopathic and phytotherapeutic as an antipyretic drug is probably to be ascribed to the polysaccharides antipyretic drug properties.
