Abstract: A case study of music-therapy patients suffering from psychotic disorders. Emphasis is on the structuring aspect, which is an imporant consideration in music therapy generally and particularly with psychotic patients. Highly unstable individuals were exposed to a restructuring of the clinic. Initially, the restructuring caused the patients to experience a loss of structure. The framework offered in music therapy, however, helped them to overcome feelings of insecurity and confusion. This structuring is part of a process leading to creation of a protective space in which patients can begin to relate to themselves and others. (author)
