Report: Music and Medicine Task Force

Abstract: In October of 1989, a task force of distinguished music therapists and physicians assembled at the meeting of the International Society for Music in Medicine in Rancho Mirage, CA. Prior to that meetings, these individuals were asked to respond to four questions concerning the current and future status of music and medicine. Discussion at the meeting further emphasized the many possibilities of the interface between these two disciplines. Written responses, summaries of discussion and recommendations are presented in this article.
