Spanish medical literature on music therapy in the 18th century. TITLE, ORIGINAL: Literatura médica espaÂ–ola sobre musicoterapia en el siglo XVIII.

Abstract: Thirteen documents on music therapy have been found in 18th-c. medical literature by the following authors: A.J. RodrÂ’guez (1744), F.F. EguÂ’a (1745), V. de la Asunción (1763), B. DonÂ’nguz Rosains (1766), J. de Pereyra (1767), P. Domenech (1798), J. Pascual (1798), and a file on tarantism by M.C. Soler (1782). These writers were associated with various medical academies and societies; most of them were physicians influenced by the mechanism and vitalism of the day. Among their immediatepredecessors were A. Kircher and G. Baglivio. (author)
