Meaning and expression: the pursuit of the aesthetics in research

Abstract: A review of Gregory Bateson's thinking as applied to health research and the need for artistic considerations to build a complete picture of the human being. The role of art in culture is discussed as an important factor in balancing the technology of modern medical approaches. The researcher is encouraged to look at the whole patient rather than fragmenting them into organ systems. People are encouraged to develop an articulacy of self based on their own expressive realizations.
