A comparison of European versus American patient demographics sampled from out-patient teaching clinics of two chiropractic colleges

Abstract: Comparision of patient characteristics between two chiropractic colleges, one located in the United States and the other in Great Britain, was undertaken to identify variations in demographic and morbidity indicators for the patient base treated by student interns. Patients treated by students in the English college appear to resemble more closely those of field practitioners with regard to presenting diagnosis, intensity of morbidity, and population characteristics. Implications for epidemiologic research and ambulatory care teaching models utilised within each college are discussed within the context of patient traits.
