Abstract: Studies about the connection between psyche and the development of gastro-intestinal diseases have already been carried out during the last century and during many studies it has been ried to define a specific personality structure of the persons suffering from gastro-intestinal diseases. A summary of the important literature showed, that there was no indication, that the concept of a specific personality structure has been proven by the studies which have been carried out. The patients revealed characteristics which can be recognized with persons in all groups of diseases who are ill from the psychosomatic point of view.
