Methodik klinischer Forschung unter besonderer Berücksichtigung unkonventioneller Heilverfahren

Abstract: Many unorthodox tendencies in medicine consider themselves as therapies, which are functioning markedly individualized. They aim at encompassing ("psychosomatic") therapies on a somatic as well as on an emotional and mental level. Therefore in addition to the findings, the state of health of the patient plays an important role. Sometimes great demands are made on therapy studies with respect to the scientific assimilation of such methods. These problems have been discussed by 43 physicians and scientists during a workshop at the University Witten/Herdecke. On this occasion the possibilities and limits of individual case studies, the collectivization of typologies, the so-called comparison of the required value as well as different methods of modern research concerning the quality of live have been discussed among other topics. lt became clear, that in addition to the randomized clinical trial with a large group of patients, various other methods for the clinical and therapeutical research are available, which are often not very well known or wich are not taken into consideration because of existing conventions.
