Pharma-Akupunktur zur Verbesserung der cerebralen Leistung

Abstract: Clinical observations on the effect of the hydrolysate drug Cerebrolysin when injected in the acupunture points "Fours Gods of Wisdom" (1 cun ventral, distal and lateral to GV 20 respectively) are presented. 70 patients (age range 35-81 yrs mean 57yrs) suffering from memory and learning disturbances, who demonstrated definite clinical symptoms of cerebral degeneration and 18 controls who complained of memory weaknesses bt who showed no symptoms of cerebral involvement were included in this study. 1,8-2,0ml Cerebrolysin, which contains amino acids, was injected between the skin and periosteum into the above described four points. 0,5ml 2% Procain was added after the first treatments to reduce the pain of injection. The patients received 1-3 treatments at varying intervals of between 3 and 24 weeks (mean 7 weeks); the controls received only two treatments at an interval of 2 weeks. No changes were observed or reported in the control group. According to the subjective observations of the admittedly, very heterogeneous group of patients there was good to satisfactory improvements in many. Patiens with marked symptoms of cerebral degeneration responded better than those with mild symptoms. Severe cerebral sclerosis cases, however, did not respond at all.. Apart from the pain at the site of the injections, no side effects were observed. The author reflects on whether the drug, itself, or the long-term stimulation of the point brought on by the irritation (similar to permanent acupuncture needles) caused the observed improvements.
