Abstract: Waterhemp, Eupatorium cannabinum L., is an old medicinal plant. Next to etymological, historical and botanical aspects, its constituents and their analysis are reviewed. Its use in folk medicine and homoeopathy is described. In particular, results from pharmacological and toxicological studies are discussed.
