Abstract: In integrative music therapy, Çresistance> is defined as self-defense against change, implying a revision of the traditional definition. Distinctions are drawn between protective and mutating types of resistance. Dealing with resistance in therapy calls for making it accessible to experience (e.g. acceptance, the discovering of meaning, understanding, and a search for alternative forms of expression).
