Therapie gastrointestinaler Erkrankungen

Abstract: Here are reported possibilities in the therapy of gastrointestinal diseases and symptoms by oral application of an apathogenic and antagonistic acting E. coli strain (Mutaflor®). Results are given of new clinical studies-including the design-in patients with chronic constipation and chronic diarrhea.These results confirmed the experiences in the past: evident reducing of gastrointestinal complaints, improvement of the stoolquality and a doubleblind, placebo-controlled multicenter trial in patients with chronic obstipation moreover the consumption of purgatives was reduced. Open studies in more than 500 patients and other reports in over 800 patients confirmed these results.This material give the input to start further controlled. doubleblind trials-partly in combination with a common therapy-in patients with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable colon and infant's enteritis. The experiences in the past and the new results have demonstrated the efficacy and tolerance of the therapy. Additionally, the absence or the very low rate of side effects and adverse - reactions suggest that Mutaflor® may become a sure alternative drug in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and symptoms.
