The Environmentally-oriented Hospital

Abstract: Acknowledging the fact that many diseases are caused by pollutants and damages of the environment, the doctors of the Elisabeth-Krankenhaus in Straubing added an environment committee to the hygiene committee. This environment committee consists of members of the different groups of the profession. Even though it has only got advisory functions, it has, since it has existed, been able to carry out a number of projects for the protection of the environment. These projects include for example the environmentally-oriented design of the parks, lessons an environmental topics in the nursing school, and solving problems of waste removal and recycling of raw materials.
