Resorption von Peptiden und Proteinen

Abstract: There are indications that peptides and proteins are not being hydrolyzed completely in the intestinal lumen, but also absorbed. The proportion being absorbed in the gastro-intestinal tract depends on a number of parameters such as composition of food, activity of proteases and ability of hydrolytic cleavage. Specific transport systems which are used to get peptides into the cells to cause the biologic effects there, have been proved in cell cultures. Hydrolases, being secreted by pancreas, seem to be able to pass an enteropancreatic cycling analogous to the enterohepatic one. Pharmacologically active peptides i.e. antibodies or insulin, are clinically effective also without encapsulation, but they must be administered orally in high concentration to prove efficacy. This is an alternative way to supply organism with peptides, which should be used clinically to a higher extent.
