Abstract: In the family doctor's practice in which also today the majority of all patients is taken care of and medically treated not the diseases but man with his diseases is the centre of medical thinking and activity.Man as the whole is emphasized and dealing with him accordingly requires holistic way of consideration as well as strategies.The holistic duty as well as approach in general medicine occurs at five levels:1. somatic level 2. psychic level 3. social level 4. family level 5. biographical level.At a patient's fate the single informational levels are described showing possibilities and limits of the family doctor's activities.At the end of the lecture possibilities are shown in a catalogue of particulars, how the present holistic approach in the family doctor's practice might in future be further improved and developed.
