Über den Stand der wissenschaftlichen Forschung zur Misteltherapie und zur Homöopathie

Abstract: The present situation of scientific research in alternative medicine is shortly described under aspects of sociology of science. Mistletoe therapy and homeopathy are examples of the status and problems of a strictly scientific approach to preclinical and clinical questions. Clinical evaluation of the mistletoe therapy in oncology is still an unsolved problem, since a blind trial is impossible for several reasons. In homeopathy, there are many possible questions. Besides some considerations for proving the efficacy of homeopathic remedies in vitro and in vivo, a question is raised regarding the underlying acting homeopathic principle. There are some interesting biophysical hypotheses. If the basic acting principle of homeopathy could be found, it might be valid also in other fields as in phytotherapy.
