Enzymtherapie bei degenerativem Rheuma

Journal/Book: Erfahrungsheilkunde. 1989; 38/8: 509-511.

Abstract: Patients suffering from chronic rheumatic diseases take much benefit of enzyme treatment (with Wobenzym or Mulsal).Rheumatic arthritis is one of the worst diseases in middle aged women, high dosis of enzymes will stop the disease and hinder other relapses. Even in case of ineffectiv goldtreatment enzymes are helpful. Osteoarthritis and non articular rheumatism are goals of enzyme treatment, too.The patients should be instructed that in this chronic diseases the symptoms may occasionally become intensified, following the start of Wobenzym or Mulsal treatment, which must be valuated as a positiv therapeutic reaction. Under no circumstances should the medicamentation be discontinued. Merely temporary dosis reduction should be concidered. In this diseases the inflammatory symptoms will be stopped (like pain, swelling and fibrin depositiones). Therefore the patients should obtain enzymes only in case of symptoms.Enzyme therapy is well proved in non articular rheumatic diseases. especially in non responders of other therapeutic regimen. In this case high dosis of enzymes are necessary (20 to 30 drgs/day). This dosage schedule could be lowered after one or two weeks to 12 to 15 drgs/day. Side effects are rare (harmless changes in structure, colour and odour of' the stool, flatulence and allergic reaction), which disappear soon after discontinuation of the drugs.
