The personal implications of change

Abstract: It is important to work as a team in caring for the dying. This can bring problems for general medical practitioners who see this as a questioning of their authority, and that many decisions are taken over by specialists. Medical practioners expressed a fear of working with cancer patients, partly that the dying are sometimes difficult to work with, and partly a fear of "catching cancer". This irrational fear is often projected onto the patients who are seen as irrational in their demands particularly in their search for varying forms of therapy.
