Sinusitis - Klinische Prüfung verschiedener homöopathischer Medikamente in unterschiedlichen Potenzen

Abstract: In a double blind study 3 drugs containing active substances have been compared with a placebo in patients with acute and chronic sinusitis. The placebo (PZL) and 1 drug to be tested (LZP) were given as solutions, the other two as tablets (TZP) and PZT). The recorded treatment period lasted 2 weeks in each case. Each group consisted of 20 patients. Evaluation only covered the patients suffering from a liquid accumulation in the maxillary sinus that, in a sonogram of the maxillary sinus, can be detected by an echo at the posterior wall. The disappearance of that echo as well as a seines of clinical parameters were chosen as criteria of the therapys efficacy. After 2 weeks, the comparison of the mean values of the entire score of the clinical parameters showed a significant difference between placebo and LZP (p = 0.01);the difference between placebo and TZP was highly significant (p = 0. 001). The two drugs in tablet form only differed significantly (p = 0.05), TZP being the more efficient one. By the end of the observation time, secretion accumulation in the maxillary sinus could only be detected in 4 7% on the placebo treated cases and in 21/16/5% of the cases treated with LZP/PZT/7ZP.
