Abstract: Immune complexes play a decisive role in the pathogenesis of inflammatoryrheumatic diseases. Therefore one is led to expect that a successful treatment of the symptoms typical of these types of diseases could be achieved by therapeutically influencing this pathomechanism.The study at hand presents and discusses therapeutical concepts for reducing increased immune complex levels. Particularly enzyme therapy can interfere causally into the pathogenetic process. Therefore, through measurements of the immune complex levels, the success of long-term treatment with enzymes has been persued for some years. The course that is showing here is such that, in the beginning, there even occurs an increase of the immune complexes which only in the third phase leads to a distinct decrease of immune complexes.
