On the Way to a Theory of Music Orientated Psychotherapy

Abstract: This phenomenological study proposes a concept which could be used to define a theory about a musicorientated psychotherapy. A differential analysis and a historical investigation of music, musictherapy and psychotherapy lead to the hypothesis that musicorientated pschotherapy can be considered as an inter-, intra- and transpersonal art in which music as a crystallisation of rhyrhm and sculptured sound can be a "hic et nunc" experience which allows to mould past and future. The practical consequences of such a concept are discussed.
