Abstract: This paper deals with teaching piano to a child with autism. Piano lessons took place over several years. Several strategies that proved succesfull are discussed. The student had from an early age displayed an unusual keyboard ability, not unlike an obsessive behavior pattern, but without the commensurate emotional understanding or appreciation for his age group.
