Communicating Joy

Abstract: Music brought joy into the writer's life. She has found that the use of music with severely mentally handicapped adults can bring a joyful communication to many who have severe difficulties, mentally, physically and emotionally. (slides were shown of music sessions with individuals and groups when this talk was presented). Young men and women confired to wheelchairs with little use of limbs, very withdrawn individuals, deaf or blind person,s those with echolalic speech, or people who find little interest in life, can experience and share joy through the use of music.
