Sporotrichosis treated with garlic juice

Abstract: A case of saorotrichosis treated successfully with garlic juice is reported. The diagnosis was confirmed by mycological studies.Sporotrichosis from India' has mostly been reported from North-Eastern region of the countryl-4. There has been no report of an epidemic outbreak and infection appears endemic in North Eastern region. The most effective treatment for this condition is the systemic use of potassiumlodide. All the cases previously reported from India vvere treated with Potassium lodide. The duration of treatment varies from four to twenty weeks and is not devoid of side effects.Garlic is well known to have antifungal properties against plant pathogens in vitro and .has been tried for its medicinal value in diverse clinical conditions. The authors have not seen any previous report of treatment of sporotrichosis with garlic extract and therefore, report one such case treated sucessfully with garlic juice.
