Reduction of ricin and other plant toxins by thiol: Protein disulfide oxidoreductases

Abstract: The inhibitory effect of ricin, abrin, and modeccin on protein synthesisby a rabbit reticulocyte lysate is enhanced after preincubation of thetoxins with GSH in the presence of a thiol:protein disulfideoxidoreductase purified from bovine liver.
