Journal/Book: Musiktherapeutische Umschau. 1980; 1: STUTTGART. 99-121.

Abstract: Through the music therapy techniques developed by NORDOFF and ROBBINS, virtually any child, even with severe or multiple handicaps, can respond, react and participate in his own personality development. The authors present and discuss two "Rating Scales for Improvisational Individual Music Therapy" - result of their ten years clinical work with variously handicapped and emotionally disturbed children. These evaluation scales are designed to rate the relationship between child and therapist in the music therapy situation and the child's musical communicativeness. Apart from their function as rating instruments, they have proved to be important guides to therapists in providing orientation and perspective in therapeutic processes, and in suggesting clinical approaches at various stages and in different situations. The first part concentrates on developmental aspects in working at the scales and scale 1: "Child-Therapists Relationship in Musical Activity".
