Response to Connie E. Naitove--"Creative arts therapist: Jack of all trades or master of one?"

Abstract: Responds to Naitove's (see PA, Vol 67:6342) discussion about the more desirable orientation of an art therapist (generalist vs specialist) and counters that it is not possible to train a creative arts therapist who is a "jack of all trades" without producing masters of little in therapeutic skills. It is also suggested that many programs in art therapy are not based on analytic theory (e.g., music theory based on behavioral theory), and it is such diversity that promotes professional growth.
