Abstract: The role of amino, sulfhydryl, disulfide, carboxyl, phenolic, imidazoleand indole groups on the agglutination of human erythrocytes by thelectin from Viscum album has been determined using specific chemicalmodification techniques. The results indicate that tyrosine residuesparticipate in the hemagglutination reaction. Subunits of the lectinpossess only reduced hemagglutinating ability. Author.
