Ultrastruktur der Pulmonalisklappe des Meerschweinchens

Author(s): Pischinger, A., Stockinger, L.

Abstract: The pulmonary valves of guinea pig heart consist of tissue pleats lacking blood vessels and muscle fibres. On both sides they are covered by a closed layer of endothelial cells. At the place wher they branch off elastic fibres enter the valves on their inner (ventricular) side forming a fine network ill the periphery. The valve stroma contains ramified connective tissue cells, amorphous tissue elements -especially on the inner side - and bundles of collagen fibres. Sometimes mast-cells are discovered. From the root of the valves thicker bundles of nerve fibres enter closely attached to the elastic membrane. Approaching the margin the bundles of axons are thinner and the diameter of the axons is sometimes very small. Larger diameters of singular axons show accumulation of mitochondria or high amounts of empty and dense vesicles. It is supposed that axons end free, whereas their preterminal part is important for chimical mediation of nerve impulses. The connective tissue itself seems to be the field of action for vegetative nerve fibres.
